Of Counsel

Bill’s extensive experience with first-party and bad faith insurance litigation makes him one of the leading first-party insurance plaintiff lawyers in Texas. Bill has litigated and settled over a thousand insurance claims and lawsuits for property owners whose claims were wrongfully handled by their insurance companies.

As part of his work on the Hurricane Ike litigation, Bill participated in the negotiations on behalf of the plaintiffs in the drafting and presentation of the case management and discovery orders in the Hurricane Ike dockets pending in Harris, Galveston and Brazoria Counties. Bill was also directly involved in the $189 million settlement of the Hurricane Ike “Slab” claims against the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association which benefited policyholders whose homes were completely destroyed by Hurricane Ike.

Today Bill is handling dozens of claims all along the Texas coast for commercial and residential property owners who suffered damages caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Work Experience & Representative Case History

While a senior attorney at a national law firm, Bill managed the day to day litigation of the firm’s 300+ case strong Accutane® docket and also handled the full workup of approximately 45 potential bellwether cases in the In Re C.R. Bard, MDL No. 2187 litigation. Bill’s experience includes the daily management of the firm’s client files, taking hundreds of depositions of prescribing, implanting and treating physicians, deposing opposing expert witnesses, and handling pre-trial hearings on individual client matters as well as docket wide dispositive motions.

Bill is particularly proud of an accolade he received from the Honorable Nelson Johnson who oversees the In Re Accutane® litigation and stated in a written opinion, “[t]he court was impressed by the skill, artfulness, and zeal of Mr. Jones oral argument as to why Defendants’ Motion on the label should fail under the laws of the great state of Texas.”

Bill is licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas, The State Bar of New Mexico (inactive), and The United States District Court for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
